And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
This first chapter does speak of the power of woman, the birth of John and the influence of Mary. The birth of John the baptist is also found here.
Luke 2
The Birth of Jesus
Ceasar Augustus had actually ordered a Census. Imagine that and the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened. The book mentions that Jesus was the name given to him before he was conceived which hints to me that Jesus and Mary had gotten something stright between them. When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. 40And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. Just like a "Normal" person would. Mary and Joseph upon retrn from passover literally found that Jesus had run away. We in this day and age would be chastised for leaving a child home like this...Jesus just went to his fathers house. MOM and DAD were stumped.
Luke 3
John the Baptist Prepares the Way
Said John the baptist ""A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. ". Here is where Jesus actually gets baptized. and actual lineage back to the Son of god with linkages back to Adam whom was absolutely the first man whom God created.
Luke 4
The Temptation of Jesus
For forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry, NOW thats a surprise and whats the fascination with 40 days. The devil tempted him with no mention at all what the devil looked like or who the devil was. When confronted by a man possessed be a demon Jesus shouted Be quiet!" Jesus said sternly. "Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him. Then Jesus saved and healed people and he could have been the 6th vote on health care reform. Those were different times, but truly a similar message.
Luke 5
The Calling of the First Disciples
My oh my did Jesus have them catching fish when there orginally where no fish to catch, he then cured a man of leprocy and a man of Paralytic. The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, "Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Which at the time was an astute question.
Luke 6
Lord of the Sabbath
Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?" It is here where jesus prayed to god and came to the decsion of his 12 disciples. It is here where it is stated to love your enemies. Many lessons in life are addressed here. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete." This IS the proverbial PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH.
Luke 7
The Faith of the Centurion
Come to JESUS -Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" 15The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. WOW -Thats what I consider the ever expanding past. If I witnessed these miracle I would be an ardent follower also. At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. Hes a tough act to follow thats for sure.
The Whore at the House
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."
Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." .
There is a lesson to learned here as we are alll created equal or this woman was extremely hot.
Luke 8
The Parable of the Sower
The parable of the birds and the seed
Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. And here Jesus camlms a storm -He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25"Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.". HE WAS A FANTASTIC FISHING BUDDY.
